NBA Draft Combine

In 2021 the NBA was experiencing difficulties decorating their NBA Draft Combine with player names and number, and many NBA teams were having similar issues with their Summer League jerseys. Given that rosters change quickly during those time periods, and timelines for updating jerseys are short, fully sublimating names and numbers is impossible, but the garments were delivered with the rest of the decoration pre-sublimated. The NBA had tried using various heat transfer products, but experienced consistent issues with dye migration because, when exposed to heat above 280 degrees, sublimated products will begin to bleed and blur. After exploring many options, the NBA partnered with IAS Branding for their decoration. IAS’s proprietary Performance Flex® Matte Finish is applied at 265 degrees, which allows it to be used on sublimated garments without any dye migration. The other benefit to Performance Flex® Matte Finish is that it’s an easy product for teams to press themselves, provided they have a basic heat press, and IAS has supplied many teams with DIY numbering kits they can apply themselves. In the past three years, IAS has become the sole decorator of the NBA Draft Combine jerseys as well as the decorator for several teams’ Summer League jerseys.
